Humble Prayer
"For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will pray to Me and I will listen." (Jeremiah 29:11-12).
My transitioning from a 31-year job to missionary service with Journey in Christ is humbling -- but not humiliating -- and this is a very good thing. As a result, I am being taken to a depth of prayer where I have never been -- prayers not just for me, but for every one with whom I relate.
I am realizing now more than ever that the starting point of prayer is God's sovereignty -- God is in control. I am also realizing that for this truth to get from my head to my heart, I need to not only know that God is in control for me, He is in love with me.
These two truths can be uncomfortable at first because we have been trained by the world to be in control of our lives and to earn love and acceptance from others.
This week, may we be comforted in knowing deep in our hearts that...
...our loving Father has laid out a perfect plan for each of us...
...the living Son has pioneered this plan for each of us...
...and the liberating Holy Spirit will empower us as the Father unfolds His plan for each of us...for the glory of His Son!
Have a safe and sure journey this week!
