Accepted and Acceptable

To the praise of the glory of His grace, by which He made us accepted in His beloved Son (Ephesians 1:6).

A teenaged boy was asked if his parents accepted him, to which he replied "Sure they do."  The tone of his reply implied he was accepted because his parents were who brought him in to the world and now they were sort of stuck with him.

When asked if he was acceptable to his parents, the answer was a saddened bowed and slow shake of his head that simply said "No" without words.

God soooooooooo loves the whole world, but cannot accept anyone apart from His Beloved Son.  For those who receive His Son, we are not only accepted by God through the sacrifice of His Son, we are also made acceptable in His Son!

God is leading me to surrender the need for acceptance from people so that I can rest in His acceptance.  It still hurts and perplexes me when I'm not accepted by someone (or when I , in self-righteousness, perceive I'm not accepted by someone).  However, I can choose to stand in grace and to walk in truth to remain free so that I don't likewise reject that person.

The truth is that I am accepted by God and I have been made 100% acceptable to God in Christ through the cross and resurrection.  When we confidently and hopefully walk in this truth, we experience freedom in Christ and those who reject us will be touched by Christ in us.

I am now free to grow as a child in the presence of the most Holy God...free to live and play in His presence exclaiming without fear,  "Look Daddy, look Daddy!"  My Father's eyes are always fixed on me with glee!

However, I don't freely live and play in God's presence alone.  My best Friend Jesus in me introduces me to friends like you who affirm God's view of us just as we are -- accepted and acceptable

He made us accepted in His Beloved Son.

Your friend for the journey,

P.S.  I am indebted to Dr. John Best who mentored me in these truths.  John has wonderful resources available thru his website Abundant Living Resources
