The Much More of the Gospel
If when we were enemies we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son, much more, having been reconciled, we shall be saved by His life (Romans 5:10).
The word "gospel" means "great good news that makes you want to jump for joy." However, the gospel can be lived out as only "good news without profound joy" when the much more of the gospel is not realized.
The gospel is sometimes proclaimed as "God can change your life." The much more of this truth is that God has exchanged your life for the Life of His Son! Now that's a change that makes you want to jump for joy!
The gospel is also proclaimed as "give your heart to Jesus" and "let Jesus come into your heart." The much more of these truths is that God has taken the spiritual heart you entrusted to Him and has crucified that heart in Christ, and has raised you up in Christ with a new heart united with Christ's heart. Now that is the heart of the gospel!
The gospel often focuses on going to heaven in the future. The much more of this truth is that heaven has come to you in the Person of Jesus through the Spirit of Christ who indwells you now!
We don't always feel like jumping for joy. But joy is much more than happiness. Happiness depends on what happens. But God calls us to live by faith in Him, not based on faith in happenings and faith in feelings.
When I choose to believe God's much more of the gospel, I sense a deep joy even in the midst of my struggles and tears in life. This sense is not so much a feeling, but much more, is Jesus Christ revealing Himself and His joy in me.
With joy for our journey,
JOURNEY IN CHRIST

MUCH MORE then, having been justified by His blood, we shall be saved from wrath through Him (Romans 5:9).
For if by one man's (Adam's) offense death reigned through the one, MUCH MORE those who receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness will reign in life through the One, Jesus Christ (Romans 5:17). |
