To you and me, God willed to make known
what are the riches of the glory of a mystery...
...Christ in you the hope of glory!
(Colossians 1:27)
THE MAJESTY OF HIS CREATIVE LIFE
For by Christ all things were created.
All things were created through Him and by Him.
And He is before all things,
and in Him all things consist.
(Colossians 1:16-17)
Wow! Christ is the agent through whom God, by the Holy Spirit, brought the universe into existence and now maintains its existence!
Scientists now point out that the universe must have an "integrating point," without which everything would disintegrate. Jesus Christ is that integrating point!
All the rolling ocean waves, all the constellations, and even every leaf that quivers in the wind are held together by the majesty of the creative life of Christ!
And His creative life indwells you and me! Indeed, we are new creations through His life (2 Corinthians 5:17)!
THE MAJESTY OF HIS REDEMPTIVE LIFE
For it pleased the Father
that in Christ all the fullness should dwell,
and by Christ to reconcile all things to Himself...
...having made peace through the blood of His cross.
(Colossians 1:19-20)
The story of the gospel is the most majestic story!
I have heard that the king of England never appeared more majestic to the citizens of the land as when he laid aside his royal wardrobe and left Buckingham Palace to walk around and inspect the war-torn areas of London.
This is a picture of the majesty of Christ, who willingly laid aside His rights as God and humbled Himself to be born in a stable and to die on a cross for you and me.
Christ poured out His life in redemption and caught it up in resurrection! Now the Holy Spirit imparts that redemptive ministry of Christ so you and I can know His life in us and be used for His redemption of others!
Hallelujah what a Savior!
CLOSING
I love the passage in Luke 4:28-30 where angry religious men led Jesus out of town to throw Him off a cliff. Jesus did not argue nor did He try to wrangle Himself free to run away. This passage says that Jesus simply "passed through the midst of them and went His way." Wow.
That mob of men could have easily man-handled Jesus. However, I believe they were in such awe of Jesus as He depended on the Holy Spirit in Him, and they dared not touch Jesus as He displayed His princely majesty as He simply "went His way."
Now Jesus' way is our Way (John 14:6)! With Christ in us, we have the hope of manifesting His glory and majesty as we, too, depend on the Holy Spirit as we walk the dusty roads of this earth!
