Unto us a child is born,
unto us a Son is given.
This Rest Stop is a poignant and purposeful parallel to ponder this Christmas season.
UNTO US A CHILD IS BORN
WRAPPED IN SWADDLING CLOTHES
IN A BORROWED STABLE
For there is born to you this day in the city of David
a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.
You will find a Babe wrapped in swaddling cloths,
lying in a manger.
LUKE 2:11-12
This picture can be perceived as Jesus looking at you and me across the years. It was for us He was born.
UNTO US A SON IS GIVEN
WRAPPED IN LINEN CLOTHS
IN A BORROWED TOMB
For God so loved the world
that He gave His one and only Son.
JOHN 3:16a
Joseph of Arimathea took the body from the cross,
wrapped it in linen, and laid it in a tomb.
LUKE 23:53
Joseph of Arimathea and Nicodemus partnered to carry Christ's body from the cross to the tomb. Both of these religious Jews were previously secret followers of Christ. Now they openly honored Christ and His finished work.
I can only imagine how these men probably quietly yet with the utmost confidence carried His body with tears streaming down their faces, no longer ashamed to hide their true motives given to them by the grace of God.
This is a beautiful picture of ministry partnerships.
UNTO US HIS RISEN LIFE IS BORN
WRAPPED IN ROBES OF RIGHTEOUSNESS
IN HIS EVERLASTING ARMS
We were lost sheep, but Christ found us and re-created in us a new heart that is now and forever intimately close to His heart. We are so close, we can learn to spiritually hear His heart beat and to walk in oneness with Him!
Merry Christmas!
