You were not redeemed from your aimless conduct
with corruptible things like silver and gold,
but with the precious blood of Christ,
as a lamb without blemish and without spot.
1 PETER 1:18b-19
I continue to be drawn to last week's Rest Stop regarding the truth that I belong to God.
I cannot get over the fact that God wanted to redeem me and that He was willing to pay the price of His own dear Son to do so. And I hope I never ever get over it!
THE VALUE OF YOUR LIFE
I remember as a little boy how I thought I would have given anything for a Mickey Mantle baseball card! Think about this. The value of something is determined by what the purchaser is willing to pay for it.
Now think about this. God was willing to pay the price of His own dear Son for you! Although you were a sinner and His enemy, God saw you as valuable!
Your life was worth the life of Christ? How can this be?
THE VALUE OF GOD'S LOVE
Your life before your personal relationship with Jesus Christ had no intrinsic value, no redeeming value. God redeemed you because of His great love for you!
One of my mentors John Best well notes, "God didn't redeem you because you were worthy. You are now worthy because He has redeemed you."
The late pastor Adrian Rogers once said it this way, "We are not loved by God because we are valuable, we are valuable because we are loved by God."
Receiving God's love will free you from the subtle man-centered ways of thinking that pervades this fallen world.
