The Romans 5-8 study has been postponed to October 22-24.

See more details at http://www.journeyinchrist.org

I will also be teaching Romans 5-8 January 21-23.

We hope this scheduling will allow more people to participate. I also welcome other opportunties to teach Romans to groups you may know about or may be able to host. I would love to hear from you!

ROMANS STUDY BOOK

Following are excerpts from the study book that I've been preparing for three years. In a most profound sense, this book is my last will and testament! The foundational, living truths of Romans are what I desire to leave behind when I'm called home.

The first excerpt is the Table of Contents which provides an overview of the study and the book.

The next two excerpts are the first pages of the sections for studying Romans Chapters 5 and 6. These excerpts provide a sample of how the study book is set up. I'll provide the first pages of Romans Chapters 7 and 8 in the next Rest Stop

I have formatted the book in hopes of helping others walk through Romans 5-8 while observing each word as a jewel from God. I am seeing that many Christians have not taken the opportunity to study God's Word by, first and foremost, observing each word. It is tempting for us to rush into a Scripture passage to try to figure out what it means and how to live accordingly, all while actually missing the beauty of our relationship with Christ.

Therefore, the words for filling in the blanks in the study book are directly from the corresponding verse in Romans. In this manner, anyone can read through this book on their own to carefully observe the words in each verse for filling in the blanks.

And the words I selected for each blank were not selected at random, but were selected to emphasize a truth at that particular point in the study.  In this way, this study is not intended to be merely an academic exercise of filling in blanks.  I hope this study is an encounter with truth and the Truth.

There are not a large number of blanks to fill in, but enough that I hope will serve as "speed bumps" to slow the reader to the point of seeing more of the scenery and context of the Scriptures -- and the glory of Christ Himself.

In this way, this study book is intended to be an instrument for the Holy Spirit to nurture the reader in the foundational truths of the gospel of Jesus Christ in Romans 5-8 AND to teach the reader how to study all passages of the Bible.

I invite you to pray with me for these studies of Romans 5-8!

A key feature of the study book is that it includes every verse of Romans 5-8. The primary goal of the study is to simply read through each verse.

The Holy Spirit points us to Jesus Christ Himself as we prayerfully read through Scriptures. Jesus said in John, 15:26, "But when the Helper comes, whom I shall send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth who proceeds from the Father, He will testify of Me."
