The Lord has prepared my heart to teach our annual Romans chapters 5 through 8 Bible study this coming weekend. I can hardly wait!
Nothing thrills my soul more than immersing myself in the profound gospel truths in Romans and sharing these truths with others. Nothing has transformed my life more than these truths.
I have spent much of this past year signficantly updating and clarifying the 66-page Bible study workbook I first prepared three years ago. I hope to share foundational biblical truths through this workbook with many others in years to come.
The following statement testifies of my heart for this coming teaching weekend. This is a vitally important excerpt from a book entitled Exposition of Romans Chapter 1, The Gospel of God by Martyn Lloyd-Jones.
by Martyn Lloyd-Jones
Pastor Westminster Chapel (1939-1968)
The
Bible is not an ordinary book - it is God's Book, and it is a Book about God
and man's relationship to Him.
Therefore, every time we consider or study the Bible we are, of
necessity, worshipping.
In
other words, I do not propose to consider this great Epistle to the Romans in a merely
intellectual or academic manner.
It was
written as a letter by a great pastor.
It is not a theological treatise, written to experts and to professors.
It is a letter written to a church, and like
all other New Testament literature it had a very practical aim and end in
view.
The
Apostle was concerned to help these Christians in Rome, to build them up and to
establish them in their most holy faith, and, God willing, I shall certainly be
trying to do the same thing.
It
is an occasion, then, for worship, and not really just a lecture.
